Racing to Recovery (R2R) was started by a 7 year old who wanted to help his uncle who had been diagnosed with leukemia cancer. Conor wanted to do something, anything, to raise money to help with the expenses of his Uncle Kurt’s cancer treatments. He considered doing a lemonade stand, but his house is on a quiet street that really doesn’t get any traffic driving by. So he decided to team up with the local Die Cast Race Club (LJLRC) and have a feature race during one of their events. This was perfect way to raise money and tie in their love for classic cars and racing. So Conor and his 5 year old sister Audra asked family, friends, neighbors and local businesses to sponsor cars in the 1st Annual R2R All Mopar Race, where participants are given a new, random Hot Wheels car to race down a two-lane, 25-foot track. Winner moves on!
Uncle Kurt is in remission now, thankfully, but Conor and his sister Audra have continued their mission of raising money for cancer patients every year. Supporting both individuals they know and the Jimmy Fund, their mission is to do their part in helping people with cancer.
This year, the 5th Annual R2R All Mopar Feature Race will be held in July 2021, in Lincoln, RI.
